St. Andrew's Hold on to Edge Long County
The St. Andrew's Lions overcame a fierce comeback by Long County to secure a hard-fought 45-40 victory on Friday night. Despite a dominant start, the Lions faced a second-half scare before holding on for the win. The victory improved their record to 6-1 on the season.
St. Andrew's came out firing, building a commanding 27-8 lead with four minutes remaining in the first half. Their strong defensive effort and efficient scoring appeared to put the game out of reach early. However, a scoring drought by the Lions allowed Long County to claw their way back into the game with scrappy play and relentless energy.
By the start of the fourth quarter, the Lions' lead had dwindled to just two points, with Long County closing the gap to 38-36. Faced with mounting pressure, St. Andrew's regrouped and delivered key plays down the stretch to seal the victory.
Ja'Cari Glover led the way with his fourth consecutive double-double, tallying 14 points and 14 rebounds to anchor the Lions on both ends of the court. Zayden Edwards paced all scorers with 17 points while MJ Scott continued his sharpshooting from beyond the arc, knocking down three 3-pointers to finish with 9 points.
Looking forward, the St. Andrew's will be in action again next weekend when they take on the Episcopal School of Jacksonville and Benedictine in the Savannah Christian Christmas Classic.
